How Did This Even Happen?

As I know most the people who know me are wondering how did I start my music career and why??? Is this a phase? Did you play a show once? I've heard them all. Well, it all started when I met these amazing people in college. Except Jason, I've known that guy since 1st grade! Hey Jason! (Picture below of my amazing people) Love and Miss you all!!! :)

These people were the ones who brought me into their rave fam. Those of you who don't know what a rave fam is, it's your friends who basically turn into your family. The people who you feel truly have a close understanding of who you are as a person. I went to my first show with these guys back in 2016. I still remember that first show like it was yesterday. This was truly the day something inside me woke up and started saying "You can do it."

After my football career ended I had a question that kept coming to mind. "Who the fuck am I?!" I began to wonder what more there was when my last passion was taken from me. As I was about to get ready for another weekend of drunken 1020 adventures, Jason asked me a question that changed the path of my life forever. "Do you want to go to a rave?" At that point I was ready for something new and eagerly agreed to go. I had NOOOOO idea what I was getting into. The only experience I had with this kind of scene was from tv episodes and movies. With that knowledge, some long white compression pants, a white tank top, white bandana, and some crappy fay bands(Fake ray bands), I was ready to rage! I could not believe what was happening not only on stage but all around me. People smiling cheek to cheek running around like little kids again! Hugs were being given out like it was going out of style, and everyone was just dancing however they wanted. Meanwhile, on stage, there was only one guy with perfectly timed lights and lasers to go with his music. He was really getting into it. The crowd feeding off his excitement while they bobbed back and forth, up and and down, and any other direction they felt. I was hooked! Watching this crazy interaction between an artist and a bunch of crazy lost kids. I use the word lost there in the most beautiful way it can be used in. I immediately went home and started learning how to DJ! It was truly a beautiful day.

All though my music may change over time, the vision I have will never change. My goal with music is to bring the happiness and love to as many people that will listen. My music is set out to help those that are looking for someone to listen to and to most importantly, feel heard. I, as everyone else, have been through my fair share of fucked up stuff in this world. This world can seem cruel at times and I hope that when people finally figure out what it is I am doing with sound, they will find a feeling of content. I want my music to be an umbrella from the bull shit people have to face on a day to day bases to keep going. So next time you listen to a Black Wolf song, I invite you to close your eyes, look within and find that love for yourself if you lost it.

Sincerely Yours,

John Hohnhorst

P.S. I believe in you!! :)

P.S.S. Thank you so much those of you that have stuck with me through this process! You mean the world to me!
